Please be advised that beginning Thursday, May 22, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will be performing maintenance work on the elevated Green Line tracks between 31st Street and 35th Street, including the tunnel area.
Project Details
- Start of Equipment Staging: May 22
- Construction Start Date: May 26
- Estimated Duration: Approximately three weeks
- Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
This work involves the replacement of railroad ties that support the elevated structure. Crews will begin at 31st Street and progress south toward 35th Street (including the track area inside the tunnel).
Parking and Safety Impacts
Construction crews will be using the parking lot adjacent to the southbound (westernmost) track to stage materials and equipment, including a scissor lift, bobcat, and replacement ties. Sections of the lot will be temporarily closed off one day in advance of active work in those areas.
For safety, the area beneath the tracks will be secured during active work periods with construction tape and on-site personnel. Measures will be taken to minimize disruption and preserve the ground surface where possible.
We appreciate your attention and cooperation during this period of necessary infrastructure work. Please use caution around the marked areas and follow any posted signage or directions from on-site personnel.
Thank you for your understanding.
