Pair of Sophomores Earn All-NACC Baseball Honors

MILWAUKEE, Wis.—The Illinois Tech baseball team had two honorees on the All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) teams announce on Wednesday. Both shortstop Nick Bledsoe and outfielder Michael Courtney were named All-NACC Second Team.

Bledsoe made a big leap in his second season with the Scarlet Hawks, hitting .342 with four home runs, 12 extra-base hits, 30 RBI, eight steals, a .414 on-base percentage, and a .507 slugging percentage. All four of his home runs came in NACC games, where he hit .353 and had a .565 slugging percentage. Tech’s primary shortstop earned both NACC Player of the Week and D3baseball.com team of the week honors on April 16, which followed a four-game stretch where he hit .786 (11-of-14) with two home runs, three doubles, a triple, and nine RBI.

Courtney settled back into an outfield role this season after playing some infield early on. He responded with a nice boost in power this season, slugging .551 to go along with a .391 batting average and .433 on-base percentage. The Lyons Township product led the team with 14 doubles, hit three home runs, had 32 RBI, and stole 12 bases. Eight of his 12 doubles and two of his three home runs came in NACC games.
