IIT Alert is the self-service, web-based, mass notification system that enables the university to send instant alerts simultaneously to all students, faculty and staff via cellular phone, text pager, or personal email (optional). The system complements IIT’s communication system (mass email, myIIT portal, IIT Today), allowing the university to reach the IIT community in any situation.
It is essential that all students, faculty and staff register with IIT Alert to insure that the entire university community will be alerted in case of emergency. Registration is very simple and takes less than a minute. If you do not have a cellular phone or pager, you can register an alternative, non-IIT email address. IIT Alert is used for emergency notifications only, except for an occasional test. You will not receive spam or non-emergency notices.
Register with IIT Alert by Monday, October 4 and you could win one of three Apple iPads with 3G* (two student winners, one faculty/staff winner). If you are already registered, you are automatically entered in the contest (previous IIT Alert contest winners are not eligible). There is no need to re-register. A drawing will be held on October 6, and the winners will be announced in IIT Today on Thursday, October 7.
Please note: participants must register their mobile phone number and/or email address to qualify for this contest. Installing the IIT Alert Mobile app on iPad or iPhone/iPod does not qualify you.
Contact iittoday@iit.edu with any questions.
* 3G service enabled with a data plan from AT&T. 3G iPads still have Wi-Fi capability without a data plan.
