The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be repaving State Street between 31st and 35th on the Mies campus starting Monday, October 14. The eight-week project aims to improve the look and feel of the street by leveling and resurfacing it and adding ADA-compliant crosswalk sidewalk ramps.
State Street will remain open during the project but may be limited to one-lane traffic at times. Sidewalk and crosswalk closures may occur during the project. The timeline for any interruptions for use of walkways will be determined by CDOT as the project starts. Though this project should be completed within two months, we may see additional work needed in the spring, and as with all construction projects, the weather may affect the timeline of the work. Please take care to avoid construction areas while the project is underway.
Any pertinent details including walkway closures will be communicated to the community through IIT Today, the Facilities website’s News & Updates section, and/or the Facilities Facebook page, so please watch for more information in the coming weeks.
