The United States Collegiate Athletic Association has announced its 2015 women’s soccer All-American teams, and the Illinois Institute of Technology is well represented. Seniors Roxanne Myers, Kristen Barrett, and Ade Maron were all named USCAA All-American.
Myers stood out all season for the Scarlet Hawks in net, earning her First Team USCAA All-American honors. One of the best goalkeepers in school history, Myers has put together an incredible senior season that placed her amongst the USCAA’s top players at her position. The California native has recorded a staggering six shutouts, which leads the USCAA. In addition, Myers has allowed just 1.02 goals per game (third amongst USCAA goalkeepers with at least 900 minutes) and has recorded 103 saves. She earned two Player of the Week honors from the Association of Division III Independents and one from the USCAA earlier this season.
Barrett, who has seen both time in the midfield and as a center back this season, earned Second Team All-USCAA honors. An anchor on Illinois Tech’s backline for most of the 2015 campaign, Barrett helped lead an Illinois Tech defense whose 0.95 goals allowed per game ranks fifth in the USCAA. The stats show her prowess as a multi-dimensional player, as the senior finished second on the team in goals (seven) and points (18) while tying for the team lead in assists with four.
Maron earns USCAA Honorable Mention honors after a banner offensive season. The native of Poland racked up team-highs in goals (13), points (30), shots (84), shots on goal (47), and tied Barrett with four assists. She earned an Association of Division III Independents honor after tallying five goals and three assists during the week of September 21-28, where Illinois Tech defeated both Morton College and Anderson University.
Women’s Soccer (8-6-4) competed in the USCAA Championships November 5 as the tournament’s sixth seed. Illinois Tech squared off against third-seeded SUNY-ESF at 11:30 a.m. EST (10:30 a.m. CST) in Asheville, N.C.
