Each year, IIT recognizes staff members who have submitted innovative ideas and best practices during the year with Staff Excellence Awards. The success of our students, faculty and university would not be possible without the outstanding support and services the IIT staff provides. This is your opportunity to nominate a staff member who exemplifies IIT’s spirit of excellence for a Staff Excellence Award. Candidates should have served as role models for others, displayed special initiative well beyond what was expected and offered distinguished service to the IIT community during the 2012 calendar year.

A team of committee members will review the nominations and select award winners in each of the areas below. Judging criteria will be based on service to students/staff, innovation and excellence throughout the university and improvement of a university function. In addition, the submissions should clearly align with at least one of IIT’s Values and Core Principles: Focus on Students, Foster Leadership and Ethical Decision-Making, Commit to Diversity and Excellence, Focus on Resource Management, Heighten Reputation through Activity in the Community.

1.Rookie
Newly hired employee with six months to three years of service and no performance issues. Demonstrated significant contribution with a project for the short amount of time employed.

2.Individual
At least three years of service with no performance issues. The initiative displayed sensitivity to the client’s needs and the university’s potential.

3.Team
Work groups that collaborated on an initiative that presented a unified and major impact on the university. The teams could be inter-departmental or cross-functional.
