Illinois Tech is pleased that Governor Bruce Rauner signed a bill passed by the Illinois General Assembly that provides partial funding for higher education for the current fiscal year, which began July 1, 2015. As a result, Illinois Tech will be receiving partial payment on the 2015-16 MAP grants that the Illinois Student Assistance Commission awarded to eligible students. Illinois Tech expects to receive an amount equal to the MAP grant funding that had been awarded for the fall 2015 semester.
Additionally, Illinois Tech will cancel the implementation of the MAP Grant Replacement Loans for those students who elected to participate in this institutional loan program.
In the coming days, the Office of Financial Aid will be working directly with student recipients of the MAP Grants to address specific questions regarding individual student accounts.
Illinois Tech remains hopeful that the state will eventually appropriate the remaining MAP Grant funds for the spring 2016 semester. We will continue to remain active in Springfield, urging our state representatives to fulfill their promise to our students before the fall 2016 semester begins, and we will continue to communicate with you as we receive additional information.
