The IIT Office of Research has teamed up with Christine Himes, IIT’s Dean of Lewis College of Human Sciences, to present a new workshop on Team Science from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the IIT Tower in Schulz Auditorium, Room 1F6-1. Team collaborations of scientists from different fields are key to solving today’s research problems—and funders know it.
At this workshop participants will receive a tour of online resources on team science, learn which documents are needed from other institutions when you engage in multi-institution collaborations, and learn about how scientific collaborations are launched. Participants will receive materials covering basics of team science. This workshop is intended for IIT faculty because they need to learn the ins and outs of team science collaboration. “It is increasingly likely that most researchers will find themselves asked to participate on or lead a research team at some point in their careers.” (L. Bennett et al). Moreover, because funding trends are ever more supportive of science teams as opposed to individual grants, a basic understanding of how to form or join a team science effort is essential.
To reserve a spot, email Mariam Othman at mothman@iit.edu. Walk-ins are welcome as space permits. There is no fee for these workshops which are provided as a service of the IIT Office of Research.
