The IIT Computer Science Department will co-host a major international symposium on grid and cluster technologies this week in downtown Chicago.

The 14th IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Cluster, Cloud and Grid Computing, May 26-29, Hyatt Regency Chicago, will feature such workshops as “Extreme Green & Energy Efficiency in Large-Scale Distributed Systems” and “Cloud for Bio,” as well as keynotes, technical presentations, posters, and tutorials. It will also have the SCALE challenge, a competition in which the participants demonstrate working solutions to real-world problems that rely on large-scale computing.

General co-chairs are IIT’s Xian-He Sun, computer science chair and distinguished professor, and the University of Chicago’s Ian Foster, director of the Computation Institute, Argonne senior scientist and Distinguished Fellow, and Arthur Holly Compton Distinguished Service Professor of Computer Science.

Also from IIT, Zhiling Lan, associate professor of computer science, is workshop co-chair, and Ioan Raicu, professor of computer science, is the local organizer co-chair.
The CCGrid symposium, which is sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Scalable Computing (TCSC) and the ACM, reaches out to researchers and practitioners in academia and industry. Over 230 people from all over the world have registered to attend the conference, including more than 20 IIT students and faculty.
