ORLANDO, Fla.—The Illinois Tech women’s tennis team won its 14th match of the 2018–19 season on Tuesday, defeating the UW-Superior Yellow Jackets 5-4. The Scarlet Hawks (14-3) moved to 2-0 on its spring trip at the USTA National Center.
Match Highlights
- In singles, the Scarlet Hawks were victorious in the top three spots. Morgan Colbert was a 6-3, 6-1 winner out of the #1 spot, while Sophia Nelson and Kylie Hance won out of the second and third spots respectively.
- Tech’s Mouna Chacin was also a winner in #5, defeating Mariah Linder 4-6, 6-3, 10-7. Both Nelson’s and Chacin’s matches required a tiebreaker.
- UW-Superior was able to hang around with two doubles wins, but Scarlet Hawks dominated in the #1 spot to seal the win. Weronika Halickaand Morgan Colbert downed Linder and Taylor Kane by an 8-0 score.
