The Illinois Tech Women’s Volleyball team opened the home schedule on September 16 against the Moody Bible Institute. Illinois Tech was dominant from start to finish in a 3-0 victory.

How It Happened
- The first set was back and forth until the Scarlet Hawks went on a 6-1 run to take a 12-7 lead. The Archers would hang around, but Illinois Tech won convincingly by scoring the set’s last four points. Reya Green iced the set with a service ace.
- Set two started off much like set one until a 3-0 Scarlet Hawk run put the team up 13-7. The Archers attempted to make a late run, but a service error gave Illinois Tech its 25th point.
- In the third set, the Archers took the early lead at 8-5. However, a 7-0 run highlighted by a Taylor Burton kill and Alyssa Miner service ace gave the Scarlet Hawks the lead for good. A Courtney Darling kill put the night away for the Hawks.
Scarlet Hawk Standouts
- Irena Grauzinis tallied a team-high nine kills and tied for a team-high 12 digs.
- Darling tallied 27 assists to lead the squad.
- Green added 12 digs and a team-high three service aces.
- Miner recorded three aces and a team-high four blocks (one solo, three assists).
- Katherine McCutcheon (.429) and Jelena Vujicic (.316) both recorded outstanding hit percentage.
Stats to Know
- The Scarlet Hawks recorded a .186 hitting percentage compared to just .102 for Moody.
- Digs were even at 44.
- Illinois Tech recorded nine blocks compared to one for the Archers.
