Illinois Institute of Technology has earned University Partner Status with the professional food industry trade association PMMI, the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies (formerly Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute). PMMI is a trade association made up of more than 800 member companies that manufacture packaging, processing, and packaging-related converting machinery. The association connects the makers of goods with the packaging and processing suppliers they rely on. Together they help provide people around the world with innovative, safe, convenient, and cost-effective products that touch lives every day. PMMI advances the industry through its world-class PACK EXPO portfolio of trade shows, PMMI Media Group, and a wide range of business drivers to empower its members.
According to Armand Paradis, Director of Business Development at the Institute of Food Science and Nutrition (IFSH), this partnership is not only good news for the Department of Food Science and Nutrition but it reaches across to the Interprofessional Projects (IPRO) Program and other university programs as well. The benefits of the PMMI university partnership include scholarship eligibility for Illinois Tech students, CareerLink job placement assistance for internships and entry level positions with PMMI member companies, networking opportunities with top industry manufacturers, full admission to PACK EXPO and ProFood Tech trade shows with free booth space, free admittance for faculty and students, and travel funds to help cover student expenses.
The next program is ProFood Tech in March 2019 at McCormick Place. Illinois Tech will participate in their university partner pavilion and on-site career fair.
