As was announced in late August, the university is continuing our partnership with The Nova Collective to administer diversity, equity, and inclusion training modules. This training will help to ensure that our community’s culture of inclusion and belonging continues to grow and strengthen as we continue on this DEI journey together.

All faculty and staff who were employed by August 28, 2024, and who have not gone through DEI training this calendar year, including adjunct faculty and temporary staff, are required to complete the training in Canvas by October 30, 2024. New employees and those returning from a sabbatical or leave of absence will have two months from the time they are added to Canvas in order to complete the training (these individuals are generally added to the system around the 15th of each month and receive a notification at that time).

The training consists of 10 e-learning modules, which are each only 10-12 minutes in length. The easiest way to access the training is by doing the following:

• Log in via portal.iit.edu
• Type “Canvas” into the search bar
• When the results display, click on the option for the Canvas tool
• When the new tab loads, you will see the box for the DEI E-Learning Modules for Faculty and Staff

Please note that university faculty and staff at all levels, including temporary employees and adjunct faculty, will be required to complete all 10 e-learning modules. After completing all 10 e-learning modules, you will receive a brief confidential survey to share your thoughts and opinions about the e-learning modules and our DEI learning journey so far. Your feedback and engagement in this work are important to us.
