Grapeseed Extract (MegaNatural BP) Study at Clinical Nutrition Research Center Seeks Volunteers

The Clinical Nutrition Research Center at Illinois Institute of Technology is holding a research study to determine if an extract made from grape seeds might help control blood pressure.

What is required?

  • Screening and pre-study visit at the clinical nutrition research center (about 1.5 hours)
  • TWO Study Days at the CNRC at Galvin Tower: 2 full-day visits
  • TWO Pick Up visits
  • Blood samples will be collected at each visit
  • Evaluate the flexibility of your blood vessels using ultrasound
  • Consume the grapeseed supplement for 42 days and wear 24-hour blood pressure cuff before each 4-hour study day
  • Compensation is $535 and includes transportation

Who is eligible?

  • 28–70 years of age
  • Elevated Blood Pressure 120-140 (systolic) mmHg and <90 mmHg (diastolic)
  • Blood glucose 100–125 mg/dL
  • Weight at least 110 pounds
  • BMI no greater than 35
