IFSH Executive Director Brian Schaneberg Elected to the AOAC International Board of Directors

Brian Schaneberg, executive director of the Institute of Food Safety and Health (IFSH), has been elected to the Board of Directors of Association of Official Analytical Collaboration (AOAC) International following a meeting of the scientific association.

Founded in 1884 with beginnings in the USDA and U.S. FDA, AOAC International is an independent, nonprofit membership association of analytical science professionals across government, industry, and academia worldwide. Its mission is to advance food safety and product integrity through standards, validated test methods, and laboratory quality programs. AOAC publishes outcomes in the Journal of AOAC International, and its methods and standards in the Official Methods of Analysis. It also provides laboratory proficiency testing programs and facilitates collaboration and training of scientists and other stakeholders to address challenges with sustainable analytical solutions.

Joining Schaneberg as new board members are Christian Sood, CEO of Canadian Analytical Laboratories, and Sarah Shay, director at-large of Beaconpoint Labs.

“These leaders bring a wealth of expertise and a truly global perspective to AOAC International,” said Executive Director David B. Schmidt. “Their diverse backgrounds—from multinational corporations to national regulatory bodies—reflect the breadth of AOAC’s reach and the importance of collaboration in advancing analytical excellence. With their guidance, AOAC is well positioned to continue driving innovation, strengthening food safety standards, and growing our membership.”
