The Paul V. Galvin Library welcomes you to participate in Fair Use Week (February 22 through Friday, February 26). One of the week’s goals is to promote greater awareness of issues related to fair use and copyright, including the fair-use doctrine, which has changed considerably over the past 40 years. The Galvin Library is hosting a webcast on Thursday, February 25 from 1-2 p.m. in the Cherry Room on the four fair-use factors, which have taken on a new importance because of modifications to the doctrine. The webcast, titled “The Fair Use Factors: Their History and Application,” presented by copyright lawyer Ana Enriquez, will allow participants to learn about the history of, recent changes to, and impact of fair-use factors and subfactors, particularly as they relate to such issues as publication status and commerciality. Participants will then have the opportunity to apply what they have learned to hypothetical scenarios.
