Improving the capacity of rechargeable batteries is a key requirement for future electric vehicles and portable electronics. Illinois Tech researchers along with collaborators at Toyota have developed materials that hold the promise of providing three times the capacity of current batteries. The team hopes that the materials suggested in their work would pave the way for the practical realization of this technology.
