The Illinois Institute of Technology women’s volleyball team faced a pair of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference schools in a tri-match on Saturday at Wisconsin Lutheran. The Scarlet Hawks lost to both Lakeland College and host WLC on the day.

How it Happened – Lakeland
- Lakeland built a nice lead in set one, going up 11-5 before some errors and an ace by Reya Green gave Tech four straight points to pull within two at 13-11. However the Muskies responded with a 5-0 run and help the lead the rest of the way.
- In set two, it was Illinois Tech who started quickly. The Scarlet Hawks scored the match’s first three points, but a 5-0 run a bit later gave the Muskies the lead for good.
- The third and final set was back and forth for most of the early going. No team led by more than one point until a 4-0 run put Lakeland up 13-9. Tech went on a 3-0 run late behind two aces fromAlyssa Miner, but it was too late to make up enough ground on the Muskies.
How it Happened – Wisconsin Lutheran
- The Scarlet Hawks took a 5-1 lead early on and held the advantage until a 4-0 run put WLC up 12-11. A Taylor Burton kill and an attack error gave Tech the lead back, but another 4-0 run put the Warriors ahead for the rest of the match.
- Set two belonged to the Scarlet Hawks. Tech never trailed in the set and led by as many as six (10-4 and the final set score of 25-19). The Scarlet Hawks held Lutheran to a .000 hitting percentage in the set.
- In set three, the Scarlet Hawks picked up where the previous set left off, but an early lead disappeared after a mid-set run from the Warriors.
- The fourth and final set was a strong one for Lutheran, as the Scarlet Hawks never led after a 2-1 early advantage.
Scarlet Hawk Standouts
- Miner led the Hawks on the day in the kills department with a total of 19.
- Burton tallied seven kills and led the team in blocks with seven (three solo, four assisted).
- Courtney Darling added 44 assists for the day.
- Reya Green led the Hawks with four aces in the two matches.
