The National Science Foundation recently released a “Dear Colleague Letter on Growing Convergence Research at NSF.” Convergence can be characterized as the deep integration of knowledge, techniques, and expertise from multiple fields to form new and expanded frameworks for addressing scientific and societal challenges and opportunities.
Because convergence relies upon distributed expertise, will be most competitive for these awards, we strongly encourage existing collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams to apply as relevant. If you have interest in one of the four identified areas and are looking for collaborators, please contact Ron Landis, deputy vice provost for research as soon as possible. Depending upon the area, proposals for these programs are due Monday, May 1, 2017 or Thursday, June 15, 2017. Please see additional information here.
