The Academic Day of Excellence will be held Friday, August 16. This is the first chance new students have to meet faculty, staff and other students in their academic units. All new students are expected to attend. Family and friends are encouraged to come along, too!
Academic receptions begin at 9:00 am in the following locations:
- IIT Armour College of Engineering—Hermann Hall Ballroom
- IIT College of Architecture—S. R. Crown Hall
- IIT College of Science—MTCC Ballroom
- IIT Lewis College of Human Science—MTCC Welcome Center/Prtizker Club
- IIT School of Applied Technology—Perlstein Lounge
- IIT Stuart School of Business—Hermann Hall Armour Dining Room
Immediately following the academic unit receptions, all colleges will proceed to the Convocation in the Hermann Hall Auditorium. IIT President John Anderson, Student Government Association President Rani Shah and Class of 2010 alumnus Ray Ballard will join Dean of Students Katy Stetz in officially welcoming students to IIT.
After Convocation, the Student Organization Festival will take place outside of Hermann Hall. More than 80 student organizations will be represented offering new students the chance to find the right one to get involved in for the 2013–14 academic year.
The Academic Day of Excellence is a terrific opportunity for new students to learn a bit more about the university, meet some new classmates and join the IIT community in celebrating the beginning of the fall semester and the start of their new academic career!
