IIT students in Armour College of Engineering’s MMAE 432 class took their learning outside during the 4th Annual Sketch Model Challenge – that included playing dodgeball in the snow. In this friendly challenge, students were introduced to the materials commonly used in sketch modeling and then demonstrated the role of craftsmanship and prototyping in a fun competition that helped kick-start innovative thinking. Teams had to design a device that can successfully carry one student without that student touching the ground – this year in the snow. The device had to be constructed out of insulation foam, foam core board, or any paper product. Using any non-approved products would result in a penalty. The students then competed in a dodgeball tournament while riding on their apparatus. Winners to be announced soon.
