Active Learning Workshop for Faculty – March 27

Illinois Tech faculty: plan to attend “If I Could Only Fit In More Learning: Making The Most Of Your Classroom Time” on Tuesday, March 27 from 12:45–2:15 p.m. in Hermann Hall Ballroom.

In this interactive keynote, participants will discuss reasons why people lecture instead of using active learning, review data on the benefits of active learning in science and engineering, explore changes to create a richer learning environment, and experience active learning techniques that are easy to transfer to different settings. See flyer for more details.

Our facilitator, Therese Huston, Ph.D., is a cognitive scientist and founded the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Seattle University.
This workshop is intended for Illinois Tech faculty. TAs are welcome to RSVP and may attend if space allows. RSVP no later than Tuesday, March 20 for a boxed lunch.
This is the first offering from the steering group for Illinois Tech’s new Teaching and Learning Center, co-sponsored by Lewis College of Human Sciences, Paul V. Galvin Library, and the Office of Digital Learning in Academic Affairs.
