The Esports and Digital Arts Center, the Exelon Summer Institute, and the Humanities and Technology Lab are sponsoring an on-campus escape room this summer, and we want you to help design it.

Up to 12 Illinois Institute of Technology students will work under the direction of Associate Professor Carly Kocurek to design and implement an escape room on the IIT campus. The room will be run for participants in the Exelon Summer Institute and for one or two weekends in late summer/early fall for a public audience as a ticketed event. Interested students can read more and apply at this link: https://forms.gle/HPxcoqbyamqS8BmC9

Selected students will:

  • Gain hands-on experience in design processes
  • Participate in workshops with experts in game development and experience design
  • Cultivate skills in narrative and puzzle design, experience design, playtesting, and other aspects of live event production
  • Produce a public-facing project to feature on resumes and portfolios

The minimum time commitment is 5 hours per week beginning in late June and running through mid August. The application deadline is June 14 and students will be notified by June 21. Questions can be directed to Carly Kocurek at ckocurek@iit.edu
