Applied Math Welcomes Wei Wang from Nanjing University, China, as Visiting Professor

Wei Wang, professor, Department of Mathematics, Nanjing University, China, is a visiting professor in Illinois Tech’s applied mathematics department through Thursday, February 15, hosted by Jeffrey Duan, professor of applied mathematics.

Wang is conducting joint research with Duan and other Illinois Tech faculty in the dynamics of stochastic partial differential equations with applications.

Wang’s visit is sponsored by the American Mathematical Society (AMS) Fan Fund China Exchange Program, created from a gift from Ky and Yu-Fen Fan. Ky Fan was a longtime faculty member in the Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Santa Barbara, who died in 2010. The Fan Fund is a program of travel grants to support visits by Chinese mathematics faculty to U.S. and Canadian universities, and U.S. and Canadian mathematics faculty to Chinese universities.
