Engineering Themes Credit Opportunity: Discussion on Homeland Security

Armour College of Engineering Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering Professor Anatol Longinow will discuss the importance of security and preparedness in the event of a national disaster from 12:45-1:45 pm on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in the Siegel Hall Auditorium. Longinow will lead the discussion with Federico A Nunez-Moreno, one of his former students, who is finishing his doctoral studies in fatigue inception of structural steel members.

The importance of how the federal, state and local governments and citizens respond to various emergencies such as terrorist attacks and weather-related disasters is vital. For several years, IIT has offered courses on homeland security at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. At the discussion, attendees will learn more about the type of courses taught at IIT and the accomplishments of students who have taken those classes.

Students will earn Engineering Themes credit in Security. Food and refreshments will be provided. Register today.
