Bonnie Haferkamp, senior lecturer of Biomedical Engineering and director of Student Success as a member of the ACE Distinctive Education Leadership Team, was selected to attend the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) Frontiers of Engineering Education Symposium to be held October 25-28 at the National Academies’ Beckman Center in Irvine, Calif.
The Frontiers of Engineering Education Symposium brings together some of the nation’s most engaged and innovative engineering educators in order to recognize, reward, and promote effective, substantive, and inspirational engineering education through a sustained dialogue within the emerging generation of innovative faculty.
Haferkamp was nominated by NAE member and former Illinois Institute of Technology President John L. Anderson, based on Dean Natacha DePaola’s recommendation, for her role in developing innovative co-curricular opportunities for students that apply across engineering disciplines. As Director of Student Success as a member of the ACE Distinctive Education Leadership Team, Haferkamp helps develop and guide programs like IIT Engineering Themes and Armour R&D.
