Manu Vora (M.S. CHE ′70, Ph.D. ′75), was recently awarded the 2015 Ishikawa Medal by the American Society for Quality (ASQ). He received the award for his extraordinary commitment to teams in corporate, academic, professional, and philanthropic domains; for his teaching, publishing, and presenting human aspects of quality; for integrating quality management in the social responsibility arena; and for diffusing quality into Indian society through education.

The medal has been presented annually since 1993 in recognition of an individual or a team whose work has had a major positive impact on the human aspects of quality. Vora will be presented the award at the ASQ World Conference on Quality and Improvement in Nashville on May 3.

Vora has been recognized with several of the society’s medals including the Hutchens Medal (2013), the Distinguished Service Medal (2010), the Lancaster Medal (2005), and the Grant Medal (2001).

Chairman and president of Business Excellence, Inc., a global quality management consulting service firm, he has guided Fortune 500 companies with Baldrige Performance Excellence Award assessment in the areas of leadership excellence, customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and process improvement. Vora is a past vice president of the ASQ National Board of Directors. He also served as a chairperson for the ASQ Chicago Section. He is an ASQ Fellow and Certified Quality Engineer.
