Armour College of Engineering Associate Professor Georgia Papavasiliou Recipient of American Heart Association Innovators Research Grant

Papavasiliou.jpgGeorgia Papavasiliou, Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Armour College of Engineering was selected for an Innovative Research Grant from the American Heart Association for her project, Controlled Peptide Co-delivery from Hydrogel Nanoparticle Matrices for Therapeutic Neovascularization of Ischemic Tissue. Eric Brey, Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Armour College of Engineering, is a collaborator on the project.

The grant was established to support highly innovative, high-risk, high-reward research at the national level that could ultimately lead to critical discoveries or major advancements that will accelerate the field of cardiovascular research. Annually, the selective program supports only the top ten percent of applicants nationwide.

As a result of the award, Dr. Papavasiliou was one of 250 participants invited to attend the first American Heart Association (AHA)/American Stroke Association (ASA) Research Leaders Academy on July 24-26, 2016 in San Antonio Texas.
