Astronaut Lodewijk van den Berg to Speak at IIT Thursday

Join astronaut Lodewijk van den Berg for a conversation on his out-of-this-world life and work at 1 pm on Thursday, June 28 in Wishnick Hall Auditorium.

Van den Berg, a chemical engineer and the world’s first Dutch-born astronaut, was surprised to be chosen to fly on a 1985
Space Shuttle Challenger mission “due to his age, huge glasses and little strength.” At 53 years old, he became one of NASA’s “oldest rookie astronauts.”

This event, sponsored by IIT Armour College of Engineering, is open and free to the IIT Community and friends.  Contact engineering@iit.edu or 312.567.3009 with any questions.
