Athletics Weekly: November 9-15

Illinois Institute of Technology Athletics has now transitioned into the winter sports season, as swimming and diving and men’s and women’s basketball will compete the week of Monday, November 9.

Women’s basketball opens the regular season schedule at home on Saturday, November 14 at 2 p.m. against one of the toughest teams in the region. Calvin College visits Keating Sports Center to open the 2015-16 season.

Calvin presents the Scarlet Hawks with a tough test, as the Knights are ranked 10th in d3hoops.com’s preseason NCAA Division III women’s basketball poll. The Knights will play at nearby North Central College the night before.

After two home meets, men’s and women’s swimming and diving hits the road on Saturday, November 14 heading north for a meet at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. Illinois Tech will oppose both Carthage and Illinois Wesleyan University in a double dual.

Illinois Tech hosted Loras College and Lake Forest College on November 7 in a strong performance for both teams. The Scarlet Hawks defeated both teams on the women’s side and split on the men’s side, topping Loras and falling to a strong Lake Forest squad.

Men’s basketball opens the regular season the week of Monday, November 16, but the team will play an exhibition at NCAA Division I Chicago State University on Friday, November 13 at 7 p.m. Fans can listen live on 1690AM.
