Barry Goldwater Scholarship Nominations

IIT is soliciting nominations for the Barry Goldwater Scholarship.

The scholarship is open to second or third year students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and are math, natural sciences, or engineering majors with at least a 3.0 grade point average. IIT will select four nominees from within the university for formal consideration by the Barry Goldwater organization. Each academic unit is allowed to forward the name of two students for consideration. A selection committee from within Undergraduate Academic Affairs will then select the finalists and work with the students to complete and submit their applications.

To be considered, students must work with their home department and submit an essay that describes their career aspirations. Selection will be made based on the strength of the student’s academic performance as well as the quality of their essay. Nominations should be submitted electronically by the department chair to weir@iit.edu and must include the student’s essay as well as a short letter of support from the department no later than Friday, November 14, 2014. The selection committee will make their decision by Friday, November 21. Final applications must then be submitted online to the Barry Goldwater Scholarship Program by January 30, 2015. If you have any questions, please contact Christopher White at whitec@iit.edu.
