Book Launch Party for Carly Kocurek’s Coin-Operated Americans

The Illinois Tech community is invited to attend a book launch celebration honoring Assistant Professor of Digital Humanities and Media Studies Carly Kocurek’s new book, Coin-Operated Americans: Rebooting Boyhood at the Video Game Arcade.

The book examines the factors and incidents that contributed to the widespread view of video gaming as an enclave for young men and boys. Coin-Operated Americans holds valuable lessons for contemporary culture as we struggle to address pervasive sexism in the domain of video games—and in the digital working world beyond.

The book launch party is hosted by the Illinois Tech Department of Humanities and will be held on Tuesday, April 26 from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Armour Dining Room of Hermann Hall. Refreshments and snacks will be served. Click here for more information. RSVP to humoffice@gmail.com.
