Career Services Workshops for Tuesday, March 31-Friday, April 3.

Tuesday, March 31
Take It to the Bridge
Noon-2 p.m., McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCC) Bridge
Career Services staff members will have a table on the MTCC Bridge. Come by and pick up workshop descriptions, learn about services offered, and ask about strategies to prepare for jobs, internships, and more. Students and alumni are both welcome to take advantage of these services.

Wednesday, April 1
Co-ops and Internships
5-5:45 p.m., Perlstein Auditorium, Room 131
Developed and led by Career Services and International Center staff, this workshop provides information on how to apply to co-ops and internships and how to make sure students are in compliance with federal law and immigration regulations. This workshop is mandatory for all students participating in a co-op or internship. *Note the new location.

Salary Negotiations
4-4:45 p.m., Perlstein Hall, Room 109
Do you know how to prepare for a job negotiation process, so that you don’t accept a job offer without understanding and discussing the salary and benefits? This workshop will teach you how to leverage your knowledge and skills to get the best possible compensation for your job, and avoid the most common mistakes job seekers make when given an offer. Specifically, this workshop will cover where to research salaries, what kinds of things to consider in this comparison -location, experience, degree, etc., and how to review compensation packages like benefits, retirement, vacation, and more.

1-1:45 p.m. Perlstein Hall, Room 108
Just as a resume is necessary for job applications, having a professional online presence is essential in today’s world. There are several useful tools LinkedIn has that you may not know about. If you are not using LinkedIn, if your current profile could use a facelift, or if you would like to know how others are using LinkedIn to create opportunities, this workshop is for you. This session will assist you in creating a LinkedIn profile that stands out, show you some social “dos and don’ts,” and show you how to strategically use available features.
