Where: Hermann Hall, Room 113
Description: Career Services is open for walk-ins Wednesday-Friday from 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Staff will see students on a first come, first served basis. To make an appointment to see a career coach outside of walk-in hours, email careerservices@iit.edu.

Where: The McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCC) LaSalle Conference Room

Where: Perlstein Hall, Room 131
Description: What do you hope to get out of attending career fairs, Career Connections, and professional or informal networking events? This workshop will help you define your goals and show you how to successfully meet them. Some topics include: creating a strong resume, how to craft an elevator pitch, ways to research companies before meeting with their recruiters, what kinds of questions to ask, how to best use social media like LinkedIn, and how to network effectively. Attend this workshop to learn how to stand out to employers at the career fair on Thursday, September 24, 2015.

Description: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 70% of employment opportunities are obtained through networking. If you are a job seeker, you are no doubt researching jobs and applying to positions online. Beyond these strategies, networking is a great way to get a foot in the door for employment opportunities. When used well, networking can help you create a stronger resume and can give you an edge in an interview. Attend this workshop to learn specific strategies to market yourself well.

Where:: Perlstein Hall, Room 109
Description: Just as a resume is necessary for job applications, having a professional online presence is essential in today’s world. There are several useful tools LinkedIn has that you may not know about. If you are not using LinkedIn, if your current profile could use a face-lift, or if you would like to know how others are using LinkedIn to create opportunities, this workshop is for you. This session will assist you in creating a LinkedIn profile that stands out, show you some social “dos and don’ts,” and show you how to strategically use available features.
