October 30, 2025Effective November 1, Mobile Pay rates for visitor parking lots will now include all applicable parking taxes (City of Chicago, Cook County, and State of Illinois). You can view the new rates on the Visitor Parking page. Students, faculty, and staff may continue to obtain Flex Day Passes at the current rate through MyParking. -

Faculty & Staff Judges Needed for the Grainger Computing Innovation Prize – Round 2
October 2, 2025We are looking for a few volunteers to help judge the Grainger Computing Innovation Prize Round 2 presentations. Judges will listen to six student presentations and evaluate them to determine who advances to the next round. The session will take place on Wednesday, October 15, from 12:50–2:30 p.m. with a free lunch for judges from 12:15-12:45. -

Why Are Some Trees on Campus Brown? Alphawood Arboretum Explains
September 18, 2025You may have noticed clumps of browning trees across Mies campus, and noticed webs on trees often accompanied by a worm. This is the result of an extensive infestation of mimosa webworm on our locust trees. Even though the feeding damage is unsightly, it is unlikely to significantly impact the health of infested locust and hawthorn trees. Management will begin next spring with non-toxic biological control pesticide.
