On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, ChiByrd, from our local partner Foodville, took over the Absurd Bird station on campus, offering students and faculty a chance to sample its signature menu items and learn more about the ChiByrd concept.

The one-day takeover served as a test run to gauge interest and collect feedback from the Illinois Tech community before considering ChiByrd as a permanent dining option. Throughout the event, attendees were invited to try featured menu offerings inspired by ChiByrd’s take on bold, comfort-style chicken dishes.

To better understand student and faculty reactions, QR codes linking to a short survey were distributed and allowed participants to share their thoughts on the food, overall experience, and whether they would like to see ChiByrd return as a regular menu option.

Feedback gathered from the event will be used to assess campus interest and help inform future dining decisions. The takeover reflects ongoing efforts to introduce new food concepts and respond to student preferences within campus dining.
