Chicago-Kent College of Law’s Adrian Walters Named to the International Insolvency Institute

Adrian Walters

Adrian Walters, the Ralph L. Brill Professor of Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law, has been named to the International Insolvency Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving international cooperation in insolvencies and multinational business reorganizations and restructurings.

Membership in the International Insolvency Institute is limited to the world’s most experienced and respected insolvency practitioners, judges, academics, financial professionals and regulators. New members are admitted by invitation only.

A member of the Chicago-Kent faculty since 2011, Walters holds the law school’s first endowed chair. He joined the faculty from Nottingham Law School at Nottingham Trent University in England, where he was Geldards LLP Professor of Corporate and Insolvency.

Walters is a widely published scholar of bankruptcy law and international insolvency law and serves on the editorial boards for the journals Company Lawyer and International Insolvency Review. He coauthored Contracts: A Context and Practice Casebook (Carolina Academic Press, 2d ed. 2015) (with Michael Hunter Schwartz) and all three editions of Directors’ Disqualification and Insolvency Restrictions (Sweet & Maxwell) (with Malcolm Davis White QC). He is also a contributing author to Lightman & Moss: The Law of Administrators and Receivers of Companies (Sweet & Maxwell, 5th ed. 2011). Walters currently teaches Contracts, Bankruptcy, International Bankruptcy, and Business Organizations at Chicago-Kent.

Walters earned a bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Cambridge and a graduate diploma in law (with commendation) from Nottingham Polytechnic (now Nottingham Trent University).
