New Psychology Course to Be Offered this Fall

IIT College of Psychology will offer a new course—Cross-Cultural Psychology—this fall. Because this is a special topics course, it may not be offered again for some time. Interested students should strongly consider enrolling this coming semester.

PSYC 380 Cross-Cultural Psychology
Mondays and Wednesdays, 1:50–3:05 pm
Instructor: Mahima Saxena (visiting I/O faculty)

Understanding the influence of culture is essential for success in an increasingly diverse and global society. The course will provide students with an understanding of how people think and act differently across cultures. It will be beneficial to students planning to work in international organizations or multicultural teams. Topics will include personality and national traits, communication across cultures, diversity in the workplace, indigenous psychology, health behaviors across cultures, humanitarian work psychology, well-being and happiness across cultures, and other topics. This course can be used toward the social science general education requirement.
