Come to Tech to the Future 2023 on Saturday, May 6, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Kaplan Institute to explore the intersection of esports, game design, and tech education. You can also livestream the event on YouTube.
Josh Tsui, director of the documentary Insert Coin and a key team member behind the creation of the Mortal Kombat game, is our keynote speaker. Leading innovations in entertainment and education, he is the co-founder of two video game studios, Studio Gigante and Robomodo, and he has collaborated with clients such as Activision, Microsoft and Zynga on international IPs such as Tony Hawk, Mortal Kombat and WWE. Additionally, he has been in a few video games…look closely at Lu Kang and Sub Zero!
You also won’t want to miss bestselling author Donald Hyun Kiolbassa speak about his book “The Tao of the Side Hustle.” In addition to being the managing partner at his law firm, he is an avid martial artist and is the CGI motion capture martial artist behind the Mortal Kombat franchise 9, 10, and 11. He also wrote the book “Discover Your Dragon: 5 Steps to the Victorious Life.”
Our Panel “Exploring the intersection of esports, game design and tech education” is sure to be informative and insightful. It features Jennifer deWinter of Illinois Tech, Todd McFarlin of the University of Illinois, Courtney James of DePaul, and Ashlyn Sparrow of the University of Chicago.
