Congratulations to Our New Athletics Director, Usha Gilmore

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

Please join us in congratulating Usha Gilmore on her appointment as assistant vice president and athletics director at Illinois Tech. As athletics director, she will lead the university’s efforts to enhance the student experience by further developing and growing our competitive athletics program, while serving as a critical advocate for our student-athletes. Usha will work alongside coaches and staff, collaborate with key stakeholders across and outside campus, work with the Office of Advancement, and ensure that the athletics department celebrates the power of difference. Gilmore, who previously served as the co-interim director of athletics, will continue to serve as coordinator of compliance, facilities director, and the athletics diversity and inclusion designee (ADID).

Gilmore joined the university in 2013 as the head women’s basketball coach and associate director of athletics for facilities and compliance. She came to Illinois Tech from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she served as an assistant women’s basketball coach for two seasons and played large roles in recruiting, scouting, development, and summer camp organization for the NCAA Division I school. Prior to her time at Illinois, Gilmore worked at Niagara University, Davidson College, Longwood University, Southern Illinois University, and Wagner College.

We would also like to congratulate Marc Colwell on his promotion to senior associate director of athletics. We are confident that under Usha and Marc’s leadership, the Scarlet Hawks athletics program will continue to grow and thrive, while providing our student-athletes, alumni, and fans with an exceptional collegiate sports experience.

Sincerely,
