CS Undergrad Vinesh Kannan to Compete in Student Startup Madness Competition

Omnipointment, a startup co-created by Vinesh Kannan (CS 2nd year), has been chosen as one of 64 college startups to compete in the first round of this year’s Student Startup Madness (SSM) competition. SSM is a nationwide tournament-style competition for digital media startups, that will culminate in the “Entrepreneurial Eight” national finals at South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive in March.

Omnipointment makes the task of scheduling large group meetings and appointments easier by letting users quickly share their availability. The product improves collaboration between group members by allowing them to import their digital calendars, share meetings digitally, and prioritize teammates when deciding on a time. Omnipointment has attracted more than 200 early adopters, placed in the top 10 out of 200 projects at Northwestern’s Wildhacks, and earned Kannan a place in Chicago Inno’s “50 on Fire,” among other honors.

The SSM competition is billed as the only nationwide collegiate tournament for digital media startups. It allows participants to compete against fellow student entrepreneurs, garner the attention of potential investors, and build a strong professional network. To learn more, visit the website.
