Dutch architect Winy Maas launches the Spring 2015 Dean’s Lecture Series with The Morgenstern Chair Lecture. His lecture, titled “What’s Next,” will take place on Wednesday, February 4, at 6 p.m. in S. R. Crown Hall.

Winy Maas is co-founder of the architecture and urban planning firm MVRDV, based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He is also director of The Why Factory, a research institute for the future city that he founded in 2008 at TU Delft. Since 2013 he has held the position of Visiting Professor at the University of Hong Kong. Before that, he was among others Professor at ETH Zurich, Berlage Institute, MIT, Ohio State and Yale University.

MVRDV was founded in 1993 by Maas, Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries in Rotterdam the Netherlands with the philosophy of providing solutions to contemporary architectural and urban issues. MVRDV’s collaborative, research-based design method has resulted in a variety of building, urban planning and installation projects. The most recent project is the Market Hall in Rotterdam, which includes a combination of housing and retail.
