Denim Day Campaign

As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Women’s Services encourages the IIT community to participate in National Denim Day on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 by wearing denim to support awareness and action against sexual assault.

Peace Over Violence hosts the annual Denim Day Campaign across the nation. According to the organization, the campaign was initially started because of a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court. Read more about the case. In response, Peace Over Violence developed the Denim Day campaign and the activism surrounding it. Since then, wearing jeans on Denim Day has become a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault.
