Earth Day Discussion on Nuclear Power

Two speakers from Clean Energy America (CEA) will talk about the benefits of nuclear power as a clean, reliable, affordable source of energy on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 4:45 – 6:15 pm, Siegal Hall 118.

Abbey Donahue, a project engineer at Transnulcear, Inc., and Will Cothern, a nuclear reactor supervisor at FirstEnergy Corp., will cover such areas as waste disposal, nuclear plant safety, the cost of electricity, global warming and the future of renewable energy sources.

CEA is made up of primarily young engineers and scientists who volunteer to give presentations to and participate in debates on energy issues by campus, civic and professional groups. They are sponsored by the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI).

The event is sponsored by the physics department. For more information, contact Jeff Terry, terryj@iit.edu.
