Elizabeth Wahlstrom Helgren has been named the interim director of financial aid. Wahlstrom Helgren has served the Illinois Tech community in the financial aid office since 2007. During that time, she has been integral to many improvements including customer service, communication plans, fund management, and expanding automation. Additionally, she has been a constant voice for cross-department collaboration with her roles in the Student Success Committee, the Retention Task Force, and the co-terminal process group. In her new role as interim director, she will manage and ensure compliance with all federal and state financial aid programs

Wahlstrom Helgren holds a Master of Arts in Women’s and Gender Studies from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Carthage College. During her tenure at Illinois Tech, she has received a Stryker Award in 2013 as an Outstanding Student Organization Adviser and a Staff Excellence Team Award in 2012 for service on the Student Success Committee.
