Euro Challenge at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago

On Friday March 22 Department of Social Sciences Associate Chair Rebecca Steffenson served as a judge for the Euro Challenge at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. The Euro Challenge is an experiential learning experience for high school freshman and sophomores funded by the European Commission. Twelve teams from Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Kentucky competed for the opportunity to advance to the national competition in New York next month. They were assessed on their knowledge and understanding of the current economic conditions in the eurozone and the quality of their policy recommendations for a specific eurozone state. Steffenson was selected to judge alongside economists from several regional Federal Reserve Banks because of her expertise in the European Union.
