Date: Tuesday, September 17
Time: 6–8 p.m.
Location: Urban Juncture, 5061 South Prairie Avenue

What do we mean when we say design? Through exploreID, students, community members, and partners explore design at Illinois Tech’s Institute of Design (ID) through different lenses and projects, and alumni are invited to reconnect.

As partners on projects like 51 Futures and Act Calumet, ID students and faculty activate new ways for communities to come together and build understanding. Through true collaboration, we help identify opportunities and possibilities, making them tangible so we can all consider their effects, both now and over time. In this event, we will share our process of experimentation, how we discover, iterate, and refine, and how we move from ideas to action.

This event is part of Shapeshift 2019: Design @ Illinois Techpresented by Institute of Design and College of Architecture. On the occasion of the Bauhaus centenary, the inaugural Shapeshift celebrates Bauhaus in Chicago. From September 16–28, we will explore our Bauhaus heritage, address our city’s key challenges, and host conversations about how we can build equitable and sustainable long–term solutions. Acknowledging Chicago’s and Illinois Tech’s leading roles in the development of 20th century modernism, Shapeshift celebrates Chicago and Illinois Tech as partners in reimagining the urban environment for the 21st century.
