First-Ever IIT Giving Day A Success

Thank you for making the first-ever IIT Giving Day a success.

On November 17, we proved that although one day may not seem like a lot, we can make a big impact when the whole Illinois Tech community comes together.

Thanks to the generosity of our faculty, staff, alumni, and friends, we raised $707,391 for Illinois Tech students on the first-ever IIT Giving Day. We had 860 donors, including 631 alumni, 154 staff, and 67 faculty. Of these, 224 were new donors to the university.

We also met all three challenges issued to us. When we hit 300 donors, we secured an extra $50,000 from trustee Mike Galvin (LAW ’78), and he then teamed up with fellow trustee Ed Kaplan (ME ’65) to challenge us to add 200 more donors for an additional combined $50,000, and we met that one, too. Finally, thanks to a bequest from Julia Anderson (Ph.D. BIOL ’75), each alumni donor earned an extra $250 for their college’s scholarship funds, totaling $157,500.

The Office of Institutional Advancement and the Giving Day Team would like to thank everyone who helped make this day a success—our donors, of course, but also our campus partners, including faculty/staff committee members, volunteers, Marking & Communications, Office of Technology Services, Facilities, and the communication leaders from each college. We can’t thank you enough for making Giving Day a success.
