The 2014 National Library Week ends on Saturday, April 19 and this year’s theme is Lives Change @ Your Library. Libraries are an integral part of communities. The Paul V. Galvin Library has expert and helpful staff, online books and articles not found on Google, plus 24 hour spaces both collaborative and quiet making Galvin Library an integral part of the IIT university experience.
The National Library Week at IIT is being celebrated in various ways:
Student Research Specialists will be on the McCormick Tribune Campus Center bridge from 12:40-1:50 pm on Tuesday, April 15 to play the “Show Us What You Know: Galvin Library Trivia Game” and to participate in the “Your Opinion Matters: Tell Us About Your Library” survey on Wednesday, April 16. Prizes will be given.
In addition, Tuesday is National Library Workers Day so let library staff know how much their work is appreciated.
All week, the IIT community can share information on the library’s whiteboard “graffiti wall” to Share Your Favorite Things @ Galvin Library, or post the messages on the Library’s Facebook page. Librarians will also distribute Life Savers candy as a reminder that students will need librarians to be “life savers” to help find statistics, quotes, peer reviewed articles and surveys for the IPRO event and finals. The Research Help Office is located on the upper level and can be contacted by IM, email or phone.
