Benn Joseph

Benn Joseph has joined Galvin Library as the Head of University Archives and Special Collections.

Prior to joining Illinois Tech, Joseph served as Manuscript Librarian at Northwestern University from 2009 to 2015, splitting his time between the Northwestern University Archives and the Charles Deering McCormick Library of Special Collections, where he managed both paper-based and digital collections. He also developed born-digital archives workflows for the library, and managed the university’s web archiving initiative. Between 2008 and 2009, he served as a Project Archivist for archival and manuscript collections at the Chicago History Museum.

Joseph is a member of the Midwest Archives Conference and the Society of American Archivists. He received his MSLS degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and is a member of the 2013 Archives Leadership Institute cohort. He currently teaches a course in archival administration in Dominican University’s Graduate School of Library & Information Science.
